Version 3 · 30 September 2026
The short version
- Treat other players the way you'd want to be treated.
- Play the game yourself, with the official client. No bots, hacks or macros.
- Nothing in Aldermere is for sale for real money.
- One person per account, and one account online at a time.
- Found a bug? Report it. Don't farm it.
1. Be respectful
No harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech or slurs. That covers race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability and anything else about who someone is. No sexual content aimed at other players. Banter between friends is fine. Following someone around to make their evening worse is not.
2. Keep real life out of it
Don't post anyone's personal details: real names, addresses, photos, social accounts or anything else that identifies them. That includes your own; it's safer that way. Don't ask other players for theirs.
3. No cheating
Play with the official client. No hacked or modified clients, no memory or packet editing, no tools that give you information or abilities the game doesn't.
4. No bots or automation
You have to be at the keyboard. No scripts, macros, auto-clickers or programs that play for you or repeat actions without you. Remapping keys or using your mouse's extra buttons is fine, as long as one press does one thing.
5. Report bugs, don't exploit them
If you find a way to duplicate items, skip content, reach places you shouldn't or break the game, tell us on Discord. Using it on purpose, or keeping quiet so you can keep using it, will get you banned. Anything you gained from it can be removed.
6. No real-money trading
Don't buy or sell gold, items, characters, accounts or services (like “I'll level your character”) for real money, crypto, gift cards or items in other games. Trading with other players inside the game is fine.
7. One person per account
Your account is yours alone. Don't share it, lend it, sell it or let someone else play on it. Never give your password to anyone. Staff will never ask for it.
8. One account online at a time
You can have more than one account, but you may only be logged in to one at a time. People who share a home can each play their own account together.
9. No scams
Don't trick people out of their stuff. No trade swaps, fake giveaways, “doubling” schemes, or pretending to be staff or another player.
10. Sensible names
Character and clan names can't be offensive, hateful or sexual, or pretend to be staff or a real person. We'll ask you to rename a character or clan whose name breaks this rule.
11. No spam or advertising
Don't flood chat, and don't advertise other games, websites, Discord servers or anyone selling gold.
12. Respect staff decisions
If you disagree with a decision, appeal it (see below). Don't argue it out in public chat.
What happens if you break a rule
Usually it goes: a warning, then a mute, then a temporary ban, then a permanent ban. For serious things such as cheating, bots, real-money trading, hate speech or threats, we can skip straight to a ban. We can also take back gold, items or levels gained by breaking the rules, and force a rename.
To do this fairly we may look at chat logs and connection records. The privacy policy says exactly what we keep and for how long.
Reporting someone, or appealing
To report someone in the game, right-click their name (in the world or in chat) and choose Report, or type /report name what happened. We automatically keep a copy of their recent chat with your report, so you don't need screenshots of that. Every report is read by a person.
You can also report problems, or appeal a decision, on our Discord. Give the character name, roughly when it happened, and what happened.
The chat filter (on by default, in Settings → Interface) hides swearing on your screen. Slurs and hate are always hidden for everyone. Hiding a word doesn't make saying it OK: the Rules still apply to what you type.
These rules are part of our Terms. They may change as the game grows. If they do, we'll say so on Discord and in the game.
