Slayer#
Slayer has a second master. Osric Fenn stands in Fallhaven, near the bank, and gives tasks on NPCs from combat level 31 to 70 once you have Slayer 30. Edric Thorne in Alderwic now gives NPCs up to combat level 30. Your points work with both.
- Masters ask only for a Slayer level, never a combat level, and offers no longer depend on your combat level. Each offer has one easier and one harder NPC from the master's range.
- Hand in your finished task at a master to get its points and your next offer. The tracker tells you who to go to.
- Edric gives the boss tasks for Ugrot, Varric, the Lampwarden and Hespera. Osric gives the Snuffer.
- Slayer XP per kill on task is 9 per Hitpoints level of the NPC (was 10). Tasks you already hold keep their old rate.
- Taking a party member's shared task sets your own task aside for free, and it comes back when the shared one ends. The tracker counts the whole party's kills ("Kill 125 Forest Bears ยท party of 5").
- Tasks that no longer fit the new ranges (Edric tasks above combat 30, or tasks in an area you can't enter yet) are cleared for free, and you get points for the kills you already made.
Try it: Take the road to Fallhaven and Talk-to Osric Fenn near the bank.
Bank#
The bank holds 160 slots (was 120), and you can sort it into tabs and search it.
- Tabs: up to 9. Drag an item onto + to make a tab, onto a tab to move it there, or onto All to take it out. Right-click a tab to Rename, Move left, Move right or Delete it. Deleting a tab keeps its items in the bank.
- All shows your untabbed items first, then each tab under its name. Deposits and Sort follow the tab you're looking at.
- Sort into tabs makes one tab per item type, named after the type.
- Search: type to see every matching item from every tab, and withdraw straight from the results. Esc or ร clears the search.
- Locked slots can be dragged now, and the lock goes with the item. A lock only keeps Sort from moving it. Player suggestion
- Unlock all clears every lock. Player suggestion
- Saving over a preset saves at once and keeps its name. Player suggestion
- One mouse-wheel notch scrolls one row of the bank.
- Drag the bank window by its title bar and it remembers the spot. Interface settings can reset it.
- Item cards everywhere show how many you have in the bank ("In bank: 1,234"). Crafting windows show your bank count beside each ingredient.
Try it: Talk-to any banker and drag an item onto + to make your first tab.
Spellbook#
Spell training. The Wizard in Alderwic teaches Heal, Ward, Bound Armour and Bound Blade from a new Spells window (right-click him, or ask in his dialogue). Ranks are learned in order from Rank 1: he offers the rank after the one you know, at the price its scroll used to cost, once your Magic level allows it. His shop no longer sells spell scrolls; scrolls you already have still teach the next rank in order, and he still buys them. Chat tells you when a Magic level opens a new rank.
- Heal Self and Heal Other are now Heal; Ward and Ward Other are now Ward. Arm the spell, then click yourself or a friendly target, or press its key again to cast on whoever is under your cursor (or yourself).
- If you knew both lines, you keep the higher rank, your action bar follows it, and every rank of the line you gave up is refunded in Silver Coins to your bank.
- Heal: heals more from rank II up (rank I 100 โ VII 900, was 100 โ 460), still plus 7 per Magic level. Rank V needs Magic 46 (was 45), VI 66 (was 55) and VII 86 (was 65). Rank VI costs 250 MP (was 220) and VII 310 (was 250).
- Ward: a short, strong shield now. It lasts 6 seconds (was 60) on a 15-second cooldown (was 12) and absorbs 1.4 times what Heal heals at the same rank: rank I 140 up to VII 1,260, plus 9.8 per Magic level (was 100 up to 460, plus 7). Rank VI needs Magic 63 (was 53) and VII 83 (was 63). Rank VI costs 200 MP (was 175) and VII 250 (was 200).
- Self Cast: hold Alt while you press a Heal or Ward key, slot or spellbook tile, and it lands on you at once. Rebind it in Settings.
- Party cards are targets: click a party card with a spell armed, or press a spell key with the pointer over a card, to cast on that player even when they're out of view.
- Bound Blade hits 20% harder (120% of an orb auto-attack of its rank), and Blink Strike hits harder too (120% of Arcane Blast, was 80%). Conjuring it no longer costs mana: it holds back 20% of your mana while it's up, so with Bound Armour half your mana is held.
- Resurrect costs no mana (was 80% of your max mana).
- Bound Armour and Bound Blade show ON on the action bar and in the spellbook while they're up.
- Hobgoblin Shamans and Healers cast the new Heal.
Combat#
Bronze Glaive
Iron Glaive
Steel Glaive
Mithril Glaive
Ebony Glaive
Verdite Glaive
Tyrian Glaive
- Swing timer: a thin gold strip between your HP and MP bars fills toward your next auto-attack. It shows only in combat; turn it off in Interface settings. Player suggestion
- Glaive wide swing: every glaive auto-attack also hits each other NPC already fighting you, in a half circle in front of you within 2.5 m, for 7.5% of a normal hit. It never pulls new NPCs.
- Glaives swing with four new attack animations, and Crippling Sweep has a new swing.
- Bows can shoot from closer: their minimum range is 5 m (was 8).
- Party bosses: to earn a loot roll you need a quarter of an even share of the boss's health: 12.5% with two fighters, 5% with five (was 5% for everyone). The party sheet explains it.
Worn gear#
- Crafted quality is worth more: Fine, Superior and Masterwork pieces now sit 15%, 30% and 50% of the way to the next tier (was 10%, 20% and 30%), in stats and value. Player suggestion
- Shops pay more for Fine, Superior and Masterwork pieces (they paid the plain price before).
- Stop at Masterwork: a toggle in the crafting window ends a batch after the craft that makes one. Player suggestion
- Gear pieces in the 20-level tiers now spread across the whole band:
- Ebony: boots 46 (was 45), gauntlets 49 (46), legs 53 (48), cuirass 57 (50)
- Verdite: boots 66 (65), gauntlets 69 (66), legs 73 (68), cuirass 77 (70)
- Tyrian: boots 86 (85), gauntlets 89 (86), legs 93 (88), cuirass 97 (90)
- Swamp D'hide: boots 46 (45), legs 53 (48), body 57 (50)
- Green D'hide: boots 66 (65), legs 73 (68), body 77 (70)
- Blue D'hide: boots 86 (85), legs 93 (88), body 97 (90)
- Toetoe robes: bottom 53 (48), top and cape 57 (50)
- Sunthread robes: bottom 73 (68), top and cape 77 (70)
- Merino robes: bottom 93 (88), top and cape 97 (90)
- Bogsilk robes: bottom 113 (108), top and cape 117 (110)
- Crafting tabs from level 41 up cover 20 levels each, so a whole set sits on one tab. Fine, Superior and Masterwork no longer appear as separate recipe rows.
Farming#
- Herb patches: a picking gives 5 herbs at the herb's level (was 7), 15 at +6 and up to 50 from +13 levels (was at most 21). Manure adds a fifth on top.
- A herb that bolts stays in seed for 1 game day (was 3), and gives 1 or 2 seeds at its level, rising to 2 or 3 from +13 (was always 5).
- Fibre patches: each gather gives 9 fibre (was 10), and fibre seeds now scale with your level instead of a fixed amount.
- Alderwic now has one herb patch. A crop growing in the patch that was removed moved to the other one; if both were planted, its seed went back to your bank.
- Pens give four times the feathers: Hen 60, Rooster 120, up the ladder (was 15 and 30). Wild Hens, Roosters and Geese drop more feathers too.
NPCs#
- More Goblin Shamans at the goblin camp, in place of three Goblin Scouts, and more Hobgoblin Shamans where they gather.
- More Foxes north of Alderwic and more Green Dragons on the dragon plateau.
- Goblins and hobgoblins drop more: Goblin Runts drop Cooked Meat more often. Goblin Scouts can drop Bronze Arrows and Goblin Daggers, Goblin Warriors Goblin Shields and Strength Potions more often, and Goblin Shamans Crystal. The Big Runt always drops Silver Coins and Goblin Fangs now, far more of both, Health Potions much more often and a chance at a Goblin Shield. Hobgoblin Runts drop Goblin Fangs more often, Hobgoblin Scouts Dexterity Potions more often and a chance at Goblin Daggers, and Hobgoblin Warriors always drop Silver Coins plus a chance at a Goblin Shield.
- Herb drops: Hobgoblin Healers drop Vervain, and the Dark Witch drops it more often. Giant Rats and Smuggler Brutes drop Moonbloom. The Smuggler Ringleader and Green Dragons drop Embersage.
- Fewer gear drops: the Possessed Hobgoblin drops Vervain instead of Wildleaf and no longer drops the Iron Axe or Iron Helm. Ugrot no longer drops greatswords. Varric no longer drops Swamp D'hide armour, bows, arrows or daggers; his Troll Hide armour stays. Alderwic Guards drop the Bronze Spear and Bronze Shield they carry instead of bronze armour.
- The Codex's combat stats now say what an NPC is weak to: Magic, or melee and ranged. Player suggestion
Chat#
- /emote (or /me): "/emote waves" shows "YourName waves" to players nearby. Player suggestion
- Pet drop announcements show the kill count.
Interface#
- Kept on death: a new button in the Equipment tab shows what you'd keep and what would go to your body if you died now.
- Click an XP orb to open that skill's guide. Player suggestion
- The skill calculator can sort by Time left.
- Crafting windows show how many each craft makes ("ร20").
- The Stop key also stops you walking. Player suggestion
- The overworld camera can tilt up to the sky and look almost straight down.
- One mouse-wheel notch scrolls about one row in the settings.
- Action bar slots and spellbook tiles light up on hover and flash when you click them.
Settings#
- Highlight Distance (Game โ World): how far the Highlight key shows names and outlines, 12 to 100 m (25 m as before). Player suggestion
- Hold to highlight is on Ctrl by default (was Alt), to make room for Self Cast. If you saved Alt for Highlight before, it stays on Alt and shares it with Self Cast: rebind one in Settings.
- Unbind on every keybind row. Backspace and Delete can now be bound like any other key. Player suggestion
- Skilling Sounds (Audio โ Other Players): turn off other players' mining, woodcutting and smithing sounds. Yours still play. Player suggestion
Mounts#
- Getting off is instant (was a 1-second channel).
- You can eat while riding without getting off.
Connection#
- Idle logout: only your own clicks, key presses, scrolling and touch keep you logged in. Fighting, open windows refreshing, holding a key down and moving the mouse don't count. The idle logout takes you out of the world at once, even in a boss fight.
- A login lasts at most 6 hours, with a warning 5 minutes before, and a boss fight gets 10 more minutes to finish. Log in again to carry on.
- Rules: you may play several accounts at once, as long as one click or key press controls one game. The rules page has the details: https://aldermere.online/rules
Fixes#
- Idle logout: players idling at aggressive NPCs are logged out like everyone else; fighting back on auto-retaliate kept them in.
- Combat: walking into range for a targeted special (Arcane Blast, Impale) no longer stops your auto-attacks.
- Bank: presets no longer call worn gear missing.
- Bank: closing the bank with the cursor over a slot no longer leaves a stray label behind.
- Highlight: holding the Highlight key after logging out and back in no longer breaks names and outlines.
- Shops: shops with more than 32 items scroll to show them all; the Wizard's Wares hid the Bound Armour and Bound Blade scrolls.
- Dialogue: choices, quest accepts and hand-ins only work while you're within 12 m of the NPC.
- Lighting: dark dungeons no longer brighten into a white-out.
- Trees: the see-through fade on trees overhead works at every Render Scale.
- Crafting: the Masterwork guarantee line is no longer cut short.
- Launcher: the launcher and game windows open in front instead of behind other windows, on Windows and Linux (KDE and GNOME, X11 and Wayland).
- Bound Armour: the conjured breastplate shows on your character in the world, not just its wisps.
- Spells: Bound Armour, Bound Blade and Resurrect effects no longer replay over and over for players watching.
- NPCs: an NPC killed in one blow now calls its allies for help, like one that survives the hit.
